In this class you will learn the basic fundamentals of welding, the tools involved, and how to properly use them. We will be learning MIG welding, a popular and widely used technique when working with steel. This is a hands-on class where you will learn skills to complete your own personal project from start to finish, including design, cutting, tack welds, and running a bead, as well as grinding and finishing. This class is perfect for artists or hobbyists that want to see how the creative welding process works while gaining confidence to explore the beautiful art of welding. Interested in how traditional stained glass windows were made? Learn to create your own unique stained glass window with Kristin J. Harsma, a local stained glass artist, using the copper foil method. You will learn the complete process of making a small stained glass window starting with choosing a pattern, cutting the glass, foiling and finally soldering to complete the work. Other interesting and important highlights will include tips and safety precautions. You will pick 1 of 5 provided patterns, all designed by Kristin, or bring your own (no bigger than 10x10 inches for beginners) Class price covers all supplies and shared tools such as glass grinders and soldering irons. We give you 2 blank canvas and instead of using paint brushes, the paint is poured. The process is easy and the end product is stunning!
